The KYN28-24(Z) armored removable AC metal-enclosed switchgear is a complete power distribution device designed for 20kV three-phase AC 50Hz or 60Hz single busbar and single busbar sectionalized systems. This medium-voltage switchgear is widely used in power plants, small and medium-sized generator power transmission, industrial and mining enterprise distribution systems, and secondary substations for power receiving and transmission.

The switchgear is also suitable for starting large high-voltage motors and implementing control, protection, and monitoring functions within electrical systems. With its modular and withdrawable design, the KYN28-24(Z) switchgear provides high reliability, operational safety, and flexible system configuration.

Five-Prevention Interlocking Function

The switchgear is equipped with a complete mechanical interlocking system to ensure operational safety. It prevents pushing or pulling the circuit breaker under load conditions, avoids incorrect opening and closing of the circuit breaker, prevents closing of the grounding switch when the circuit is energized, avoids accidental entry into live compartments, and prevents opening of the grounding switch when the system is live. These interlocks effectively reduce the risk of operational errors and enhance equipment safety.

Installation site should be free from fire hazards, explosive environments, severe pollution, chemical corrosion, and strong vibration.

Compact 24kV Switchgear Structure

The structure of the KYN28-24(Z) switchgear is similar to the widely used 12kV mid-mounted switchgear but optimized for 20kV and 24kV systems. It provides excellent insulation performance without requiring composite insulation or phase separators. The compact design reduces panel size while maintaining high dielectric strength.

Safe Structure and Flexible Installation

The switchgear consists of the cabinet body and a mid-mounted withdrawable handcart unit. The enclosure is divided into four independent compartments including busbar chamber, circuit breaker chamber, cable chamber, and low-voltage control chamber. The enclosure protection level reaches IP4X and IP2X when compartment doors are open.

Multiple wiring schemes are supported, including overhead incoming and outgoing lines and cable connections. The switchgear can be arranged back-to-back or against a wall, and all installation, commissioning, and maintenance operations can be performed from the front side, reducing floor space requirements while improving safety and flexibility.

Lightning Impulse Withstand Capability

The switchgear is designed with high insulation strength and strong lightning impulse withstand capability, ensuring reliable performance in medium-voltage distribution systems subject to switching surges and lightning overvoltages.

Withdrawable Handcart Design

The withdrawable handcart frame is manufactured using CNC processed steel plates, ensuring high mechanical strength and precision. The handcart is insulated from the cabinet body and equipped with reliable mechanical interlocking mechanisms.

Different types of handcarts are available including circuit breaker handcart, voltage transformer handcart, and isolation handcart. These units of the same specification are interchangeable, improving operational flexibility and maintenance efficiency.

Each handcart has three positions within the cabinet including disconnect position, test position, and service position. Positioning devices ensure accurate alignment and reliable interlocking. The handcart can be easily moved using a screw mechanism, providing smooth and safe operation.

For maintenance, a dedicated transfer trolley can be used to withdraw the handcart from the cabinet. The mid-mounted design allows compact dimensions while maintaining convenient inspection and servicing access.
